If you’ve been feeling exhausted, off-track, or like your spark has dimmed, you’re not alone. Many women in midlife find themselves craving a wellness reset but aren’t quite sure what that looks like.
A wellness reset doesn’t have to be a full-blown overhaul. Often, it’s about pausing, reassessing, and making small, intentional changes that restore energy, clarity, and balance. In fact, small, intentional changes can have a lasting impact on your energy, mindset and daily wellbeing.
As a Health Coach working with women over 40, I often see these signs show up long before someone says, “I need help.” In this post, we’ll explore 7 powerful signs that you’re ready for your own wellness reset and how to take the next steps with clarity and confidence.
Here are 7 signs that might mean it’s time for your own reset — and some practical ways to get started.
1. You’re Constantly Tired, Even After Rest
We all get tired, but if fatigue lingers, even after a good night’s sleep, it could be your body asking for deeper restoration. Maybe you wake up already drained, or you hit an afternoon wall that coffee never fixes.
This kind of tiredness often points to deeper factors: hormone shifts, stress overload, nutrient deficiencies or poor-quality sleep. A reset could look like experimenting with a consistent bedtime routine, balancing meals with protein, or scheduling in actual rest instead of just “time off.”
2. Your Healthy Habits Have Slipped
Skipping workouts, grabbing takeaway instead of cooking or staying up late scrolling on your phone happens to all of us. But when these patterns become the norm, your body and mind start to feel it.
A reset here doesn’t mean being perfect, it means reintroducing habits that help you feel your best. Even starting small, like adding a daily 10-minute walk, meal-prepping two healthy lunches a week, or committing to screens off 30 minutes before bed can help rebuild consistency.
3. You Feel "Off" but Can’t Pinpoint Why
Sometimes the signs are subtle: your clothes feel tighter, your mood dips or you just don’t feel like yourself. Perimenopause, stress, and lifestyle shifts can all play a role, but often we brush these early signs aside.
Instead, try keeping a simple journal of how you’re sleeping, eating, moving, and feeling. Tracking patterns can help you connect the dots and see what your body is trying to tell you.
4. You’re Easily Overwhelmed or Burnt Out
If every small task feels like too much, or if you’re constantly running on fumes, your nervous system may be crying out for a reset. Overwhelm isn’t just “in your head”. Chronic stress affects hormones, immunity, sleep and energy.
A reset here might include slowing down with daily micro-breaks, practicing breathwork or meditation, or carving out one non-negotiable boundary each week (like an early night or a tech-free morning).
5. You’ve Lost Motivation or Joy
When things you once loved like exercise, hobbies or social time start to feel like chores, it’s a red flag. Joy, purpose, and play aren’t luxuries, they’re essential for wellbeing.
A reset could mean trying something new like a dance class or hiking trail (for me it was cycling!), reconnecting with a friend who lifts you up, or even starting a gratitude practice to retrain your brain to notice the good.
6. You’re Stuck in the “All or Nothing” Mindset
Do you ever catch yourself thinking, “I’ll start Monday,” or “I’ve already blown it, so why bother”? That black-and-white thinking can keep you stuck.
A reset here means shifting to “progress over perfection.” For example, instead of aiming for a 1-hour workout, try 15 minutes. Instead of cutting out sugar entirely, start with swapping one snack. Small wins build momentum and momentum matters more than perfection.
7. You Know Something Needs to Change but You’re Not Sure What
Perhaps the biggest sign is this: you feel a nudge that things can’t stay the same. You’re ready for change, but you don’t know where to start.
This is your invitation to pause, reflect, and begin experimenting. Start with one area that feels most out of balance, whether it’s sleep, stress, or nutrition and give yourself permission to take the first step.
Where to Begin Your Wellness Reset
Start Small
Don’t wait for the “perfect time.” Begin with one change that feels realistic for you right now.
Listen to Your Body
Your body gives you clues every day. Pay attention to energy, mood, and stress. Your reset will be most powerful when it’s tailored to your needs.
Trust the Process
Resetting isn’t about quick fixes. It’s about rebuilding routines and habits that help you feel energised, balanced, and more like yourself again.
